Mackenzi's First date and First Dance!

In my last post I feel so horrible but another huge part of the summer was that Mackenzi turned 16!!! Yeah, I think I blocked it from my memory. Hard to let your baby be dating and driving! No really, she turned 16 in June and by September and filling in the whole summer I missed it on the BLOG sorry Kenzi!!!!
I am so proud of my Mackenzi, she is so sweet, smart and fun! As of now, she is loving history, loving life, having a great time as a sophomore, is doing great in school and wants to go into law! Sounds pretty good to me!

So the big event........
The doorbell rings and Lo and Behold there is a 20 lb sack of flour on the porch which has a note attached to "go through the flower and there would be a note!...... "

Chandler comes to the rescue and helps look..........for the said "note..... "
Okay, now everyone has pretty much given up (Brendan and Paige are there, chuckling in the background, giving no help whatsoever!!!) and Mackenzi starts to get a little worried, I mean like almost an hour of searching has taken place.....whew......

Mackenzi begins texting for help of who the said "note"is from, getting a little more nervous......

When Lo and behold ,
the doorbell rings again, there on the porch, lie actual FLOWER the "note" was in....asking her to the homecoming dance.
I know!..What actually happened to just ASKING a girl to the Homecoming dance, but such is the time of dance goings on...
So.......the hunt for the perfect dress begins, and I am thinking "Oh, how bittersweet, I have dreamed of this for so long, we are going to have such a GREAT day" NOT!!!
Chandler came along for the GREAT day as well!
Dress #1, I loved it! Kenzi said "NO!"

Dress #2, I picked this from the rack and really loved it, Kenz would barely come out of the dressing room in it, salesgirl and me loved it, Kenzi said "Definitely NOT!"
Okay so I am figuring out that me and her have quite different taste in dance dresses, I like flow, bling and pink, she HATES pink, purple, blue, any sort of bling and I mean not even one little sequin, no frill!"

Dress No 3, Me: " it's okay I guess, but I like the others better"
Mackenzi : " this is okay, but I want a black dress!"

Black dress # UUUMMM 10? I forget!
Now the frustration and stress is starting in....

Are we having fun yet?!!!!!

So maybe we should switch colors and maybe go long?..........
Roman toga could maybe work????
Help, Help we are dying! CANNOT FIND DRESS!!!!
BUT...........
Lo and Behold a miracle occurred and we found the perfect dress! We both loved it! It was so flattering on mackenzi and I was just glad we didn't have a major meltdown!
So........drumroll...............please.........the dress!!!!!!
.........................................................................
........................................................................
....................................................................
.............................................................
Okay, I know............
she is so stinkin cute! Jill came out and took pictures and when i get them Ill post the rest they really show how pretty the dress is.;; Thanks Jill!!!
On we go....

The Date .......How pretty is that corsage?

Date being extra brave for the big "Pinning" on of the boutonniere
Okay, so who teaches how to exactly pin this thing on..... I mean I had to take over, thought I was gonna draw blood, pins were poking out everywhere, flower was floppin around,, I don't know this was never brought up in home ed... I don't ever remember doing it, moms do it, but how do they learn?, Well if you know, give me a heads up for next time will you?

AAHHH! How cute!!!!

All in all, it turned out great! Another BIG event in my life and one of my kids, down in the history books! I think we did okay!
Love you baby!!!!

The WHOLE Summer!

Well, I know I haven't posted for a really long time , BUT with facebook, life, kids, work, I felt like it was a "time parasite". However, I just found out from a great friend at work ( that would be Cami) that there is a new program you can download for FREE! you can print your blog and pictures in a book for a really good price! Its called .....UUUmmm I forget, but I promise I will post it. Anyway, I decided to continue with the blog to make me feel better as a mother, for like a keepsake, journal type of thing that I normally could never keep up with.
So...here goes the summer.... Probably pretty much out of order!.......
Had Jessa, Aspen and Ashley for a while this Summer...LOVED it!
Jessa and Chandler dressed up, got dressed up, played, pretended and enjoyed bugs and the outdoors ! Here are some pictures Mackenzi took after getting them all dressed up ( I'm sure she spent the whole day curling hair and applying make-up instead of cleaning up the house, but I have to admit they look pretty darn cute!)

Yeah, by the way...that WOULD be my flowers from my decorative pots used to make the HALO! :)

Very blurry, but yes.....I TURNED 40!!!! Me...being surprised,,,,,EEEk! Ray and the kids made a great dinner, gave me great cards, and an awesome zero gravity chair!
Mackenzi and Ashlie doing a "fashion show" for the upcoming school year...... lights, camera, etc were all involved! Strike a pose! How stinkin cute are they?

Ash
Kenz
So this was probably the most funny and yet most frightening event of the summer.... I had to work, Mackenzi and Ash had a cold, were on cold meds and in lying on the couch, well unbeknown st to them their little sisters (Chandler and Jessa ) mad a "car" to ride down my steep sidewalk. I came home from work, just noticed the "chairs" in my way in the garage, had to park outside, walked up to them and then was like...OH HELL! Jill's GONNA KILL ME! But, then I thought it was pretty darned inventive how they had bungee corded 2 folding chairs to the wagon, and had put in tie down for seat belts!
I will admit I was giggling a little when Brendan came home and saw me taking pictures and he proceeded to say "Yeah, you should have seen them earlier, they had a blanket set up as a roof over their head!" and I was like "YOU actually SAW them and let them ride that?!!!!!" and he says "Well, they had their helmets on!" I'm sure the neighbors gave me high points on the mother scale that day!!!

I promise I am a good and very over-protective mother!

We went camping and got to float the river! We also took Paige. We had a great time!

A little 4 wheeling dirt will make anyone look rough! I don't know? Paige went to Hawaii the next day..what do you think she enjoyed most?!!
We also fit a family trip to LAGOON in there !
EEEKKK! Hot, Crowds, Hot !
Aspen, Paige, BrendAN
fAMILY...BEING HOT
mom, meredith, chandler

KIDS LOVED IT!!! Which looks funner? A trip to Lagoon or the Radio flyer made up as car?!@!! EXCATLY my point!!! Here are the twins sleeping....at lagoon!Twins making blueberry pancakes before the big day at lagoon!
Twins spending time reading with Chandler and Uncle Ray...more like snoozin with Uncle Ray while Me, Mom, Kenzi, Brent and Meredith went to Cirque-del-sol-li..Ray didn't want to go he took Brendan to CREW fest the week before
I don't have any pics but HOLY CRAP!!!!! Brendan also turned 19!!!!!!!! EEEKKKK!!!!Cripes!!!!!!CRAP!!!!!!! Im old!!!!
Biggest, Greatest thing of the Summer.....Mackenzi and Aspen went to Teen Leadership and did AWESOME, had a GREAT TIME and are EMPOWERED, ENTHUSIASTIC, LEADERS, and are ready to take on the world!! I really am so very proud of them both, it's a challenging, hard course and they did GREAT!!!

I know I am forgetting a few things, but all in all, its been a great Summer!
